An ovulation calendar prepares your own fertility calendar by calculating your menstrual cycle and the exact date of your ovulation. This calendar then highlights your fertile as well as non-fertile days on a calendar coded with different colours.
How does it help?
- In becoming pregnant - A woman is most fertile during her ovulation. By observing your menstrual cycle, your exact date of ovulation can be calculated. After that the lifespan of the sperm and the egg is taken into consideration, and then a probable ovulation time is marked out calculating the best time to conceive.
- In choosing the sex of the child - the time of intercourse decides the sex of the child. Sperms carry both X chromosomes and Y chromosomes. The lifespan of x chromosomes is longer than Y chromosomes. They also travel slowly while the Y sperms are faster. So an intercourse 3 days before the date of ovulation will yield a daughter, and the closer you are to the date of ovulation, the chances of a male child are greater.
- In avoiding pregnancy - the best way to avoid pregnancy is by avoiding the most productive days that fall close to your date of ovulation. The ovulation calendar marks out the unsafe period by calculating your menstrual cycle.
- Reminds you of your fertility changes - the software keeps you well-versed with your fertility changes. Pop up reminders on your system can help you keep track of your most fertile days.
- Very simple and easy to use - you need not get into the intricacies of various technicalities of pregnancy, you just need to feed in the exact data, of your menstrual cycle and the exact date when you last had your periods, and then relax. The ovulation calendar will then take over.
Tips to conceive a male child
If you wish to have a male child you should have intercourse within 24 hours of your ovulation and not later than 12 hours after ovulation as time plays a very vital part in conceiving a boy.
There are broadly three ways to do it.
Cervical Mucus should be charted - when you decide to conceive, begin charting the cervical mucus a month in advance. When it becomes light, watery and elastic, with the consistency of the white of a raw egg, you’re ovulation is near. If you conceive now there are more chances of having a male child.
Basal body temperature should be charted - The basal body temperature is measured with the help of a basal thermometer. This is the first thing you do in the morning before you get out of bed, to get accurate temperature readings. There is a sudden rise in temperature during the time of ovulation. The charting has to be started two months in advance.
With the help of ovulation predicting kits - these kits can detect the release of LH a hormone which is followed by ovulation within 24 hours. This test should be conducted twice a day so that you do not miss out that important moment.
Tips to conceive a female child
With the rest of the details remaining the same, a few changes will help you conceive a girl child. To have a female child, you are advised to have sex from the time you are done with your periods, to 3 days before your ovulation. Avoid unprotected sex after a week or so of your ovulation.
As the female chromosome X, travels slowly, the farther away you are from the date of your ovulation, the greater are the chances of conceiving a female child. The preovulatory secretions in the vagina are acidic which make the survival of male chromosomes, impossible. This helps in a larger concentration of female chromosomes, to fertilise the ovum.
